Doris Woodfield

Mrs. Doris M. Woodfield , 82, of Mount Airy, passed from this life on Sunday, January 21, 2018 at Lorien Life Center Mt. Airy. She was the wife of George P. Woodfield, Jr., her husband of 61 years. Born on October 14, 1935, in Damascus, MD, she was the daughter of the late Eugene F. Lewis and Linda A. Bennett Lewis.
She was a 1953 graduate of Damascus High School. Doris was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church in Mt. Airy as well as the 55 Plus Club.
Doris loved flower gardening, decorating her home, and was a gifted seamstress. She enjoyed ceramics, traveling, walking and meeting with friends. Doris especially loved vacationing in Ocean City and Myrtle Beach.
Surviving in addition to her husband are daughter Marti Woodfield King and husband Bob of Walkersville; three granddaughters: Sara Wink and husband Mike of Taylorsville, Brittany Baker and husband Zach of Taylorsville and Ashley King of Germantown; four great granddaughters: Gaby and Alex Wink, and Reese and Quinn Baker. She was preceded in death by her son, Mark E. Woodfield, and her sister, Norma Lee Watkins and husband Rudell.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM on Thursday, January 25, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 8 East Ridgeville in Mt. Airy.
A celebration of Doris's life journey will take place at 11:00 am on Friday, January 26, at the funeral home.
A private interment will take place in Pine Grove Cemetery at a later date.
