Doris Waltz Sines

Doris Charlotte Waltz Sines, 98, passed away peacefully November 18, 2015.  She is predeceased by her husband, Durward Kenneth Sines, February 6, 1980; son, Charles N. Sines, in 2005; and her only sister, Edna May Lenhart in 1986.   Born, August 19, 1917, to the late Noble and Ruth (Bull) Waltz, she grew up in the Araby Community and attended the Araby Methodist Church.  She was the Sunday School Secretary until the position was abolished.  She served as Treasurer, Trustee, Board Chairman, Sunday School Teacher, Youth Group Leader and was very active with the United Methodist Women.  She held every position and some more than once.  She was awarded Life Member Certificate of the Baltimore Conference in the Women’s Society of Christian Service March 12, 1957.    Doris received the Membership Pin in 1957 and was honored in 2005 receiving the only sapphire Membership Pin given since the group was organized in 1932.   She held the position as Flower Chairman until four years before she entered the nursing home with dementia in 2011. She served God and her church her entire life. Doris received the Junior Extension Certificate June 1929 from The University of Maryland Extension Service in recognition of performance and requirements met for Girls Club Work, 4H.

Doris was one of the organizers of the Urbana Vol. Fire and Rescue Dept. Ladies Auxiliary forming in 1973 where she was a life member.  She was active until she could no longer drive at night.   She wanted to give something to her community.

Doris is survived by daughters, Marguerite Damuth and husband, Howard, Nancy Shankle and husband, Thomas, and son, Wayne D. Sines, all of Frederick; grandchildren, Michael Damuth, Sacelia Heller, Karen McLeod, Mark Shankle, Clint Shankle and Dwayne Sines.  She is also survived by many great and great, great grand-children; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, November 23, 2015 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick with the Rev. Tim May officiating.   Burial will be in Clustered Spires Cemetery, Frederick.

The family will receive friends Monday at the funeral home one hour prior to services.
