Doris Evelyn Tipton Pierce, 92, a resident of Hagerstown, Maryland since 1983, died December 5, 2020, at Coffman Nursing Home.
Born, March 10, 1928, in Johnson City, Tennessee, the daughter of the late Mary Ruth (France) and Haskell Wood Tipton.
Mrs. Pierce attended elementary schools in Washington County, Tennessee, while in grade school. She was a graduate at Collegedale Academy, Collegedale, Tennessee and Southern University, Chattanooga, Tennessee, where she received the Alumni of the Year Award in 2002.
She began work at the Library of Congress in 1952 in the Aeronautics Division and later on in the Personnel Office and was appointed chief of the Employee Relations Office in 1967, where she worked until 1983, when she moved to Hagerstown, Maryland. In Hagerstown, she was appointed Assistant to the President of the Review and Herald Publishing Association.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bruce Alfred Pierce; and is survived by her daughter, Judith Lynn Pierce; and 13 nieces and nephews.
Due to the pandemic there will be no memorial service at this time.
