Doris Mae Ott, 86, of Jefferson, Maryland passed from this life on Monday, April 8, 2024, at her home in Jefferson, MD. She was the beloved wife of Franklin D. Ott for 66 years.
Born on December 19, 1937, in Jefferson, MD, she was the daughter of the late Wilbur Samuel and Ruth Eloise (Knill) Gordon.
She worked at Farmers and Mechanics Bank on the Square Corner in Frederick after graduating from Frederick High School. She later was a teller at Maryland National Bank in Jefferson for many years and left there to help her husband farm the family farm. She could be seen milking cows or driving tractors in the fields. She spent her time upon retiring from farming crocheting, reading, or just sitting on the front porch enjoying the weather, watching traffic, and watching deer and turkey playing in the fields. She also enjoyed spending time watching her grandchildren playing their various sports and even her great-grandchildren. She was a member of the Jefferson United Church of Christ for 65+ years, participating in the choir, teaching Sunday School, directing the cherub choir, and singing in the adult choir. She was a member of the Jefferson Volunteer Fire Company. In her younger days she played the piano and travelled to Ohio to play for a Barbershop Quartet from the area that was competing in a competition.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughter, Brenda (Richard) Blumenauer, sons, David (Debbie) Ott, Sam (Katherine) Ott, grandchildren Lauren (Dustin) Burch, Tom (Emily) Blumenauer, Andrew (Carly) Ott, Mandy (Brad) Blumenauer, Sarah L’ Ecuyer, great-grandchildren Lily, Jackson, Harper Blumenauer, Reagan, Blake Burch, and Maddie & Kate L”Ecuyer. She was pre-deceased in death by her grandson, Brad Blumenauer.
The family will receive friends from 10-11 am on, Saturday, April 13, 2024, at Jefferson United Church of Christ, 3837 Jefferson Pike in Jefferson, MD, where a funeral service will begin at 11 am. Rev. Dr. Darrel Justh and Rev. Dr. Amy Dows will officiate. Interment will be at Jefferson Reformed Cemetery in Jefferson, MD.
