Ms. Doris Ann Monroe, 75, of Frederick, died Thursday, March 22, 2018 at Frederick Memorial Hospital.
Born August 16, 1942 in Olney, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Tucker Monroe and Bessie Elizabeth (Diggs) Monroe.
Doris worked as a certified nursing assistant at Asbury Methodist Village in Gaithersburg from 1983 until her retirement in August of 2010.
She enjoyed shopping, gambling, family cook-outs, and taking vacations, especially cruises. Above all else, times spent with her family were most precious to her.
Surviving are five children, Cassandra Marshall of Germantown; Thomas Monroe of Camp Hill, PA; Patrick Monroe and wife, Leslie, of Hagerstown; Tambera Bell and husband, Keven, of Gaithersburg; and Jolanda Dixon and husband, Chenyelo, of Frederick; 18 grandchildren, Tahatsia, Marlon, Shanika, Capri, Keven Jr., Laquia, Kelisha, Thomas Jr., Talhjia, Kavonte, Makiya, Tia, Jordy, Jannea, Alesha, Patrice, Jordan and Payton; 18 great-grandchildren; four siblings, Thomas Monroe of York, PA; and Brenda Stewart, Joe Monroe and wife, Vallet, and Charles Monroe, all of Frederick; nephew, Jerry Monroe of York, PA, who was like a brother to Doris; and many additional nieces and nephews.
Doris was predeceased by three siblings, Shirley Dorsey, John Monroe, Sr., and Robert Monroe; and a son-in-law, Michael Marshall.
The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. on Friday, March 30 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, where a funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Officiating will be Pastor Mark Claiborne Sr.
Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery.
