Doris Mehaffey

Doris Louise (Slifer) Mehaffey, 97, of Hagerstown, passed in the arms of her Lord and Savior from this life on Friday, November 6, 2020 at Doey's House in Hagerstown.
Born on June 29, 1923, in Locust Grove, she was the daughter of the late Luther Beard and Orpha May (Grimm) Slifer. She was preceded in death by her husband, George W. Mehaffey.
Doris was a 1941 graduate of the Boonsboro High School. Before she became a homemaker she was employed by Reisner Manufacturing located in Hagerstown.
Since 1936, she was a faithful servant and longtime member of the Bethel United Methodist Church in Rohrersville.
Doris is survived by her sisters-in-law, Verle Slifer of Port Saint Lucie, Florida, Nadine Slifer of Boonsboro, Shirley Slifer and Connie Slifer both of Hagerstown; many nieces and nephews; and extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Ruth Reeder; and brothers, Rodney Slifer, John Slifer, William Slifer, James Slifer, Donald Slifer and Paul Slifer.
A celebration of Doris's life journey will take place at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, November 11, 2020, at Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike in Boonsboro. Rev. John W. Schildt will officiate. Final resting place ceremonies will take place at Boonsboro Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to services on Wednesday at the funeral home in Boonsboro.
