Doris June Fogle, 82, of Myersville, died peacefully on Friday, January 12, 2018 at Broadmore Assisted Living in Hagerstown. She was the wife of the late Robert Burkard "Bob" Fogle, who predeceased her in 2009. They were married 53 1/2 years at the time of his death.
Born June 2, 1935 in Wolfsville, she was the daughter of the late Richard and Gladys (Shuff) Martin.
In earlier years, she was a teacher's aide at Wolfsville Elementary School. Doris loved gardening and canning the produce that was grown each years. She also loved baking and used to made the best chocolate chip cookies, according to her children. Doris also enjoyed reading and spending time with her church family. She was a lifetime member of Salem United Methodist Church in Wolfsville, where she taught Sunday School, sang in the choir, and was one of the children's coordinators for activities for many years.
Doris loved to sing and would often sing to the residents and staff at Broadmore, where she had resided the last two years.
Surviving are three children, Lavena Jenkins of Artemas, PA; Robert Keith Fogle and wife, Mary, of Smithsburg; and Lora McGraw and husband, Lee, of Smithsburg; four grandchildren, Benjamin Swope of Bedford, PA, Robert Fogle, Jr. of Frederick, Justin Fogle of Smithsburg, and Alyssa Fogle of Smithsburg; two siblings, Elizabeth McHugh and husband, Jim, of Charleston, SC; and Ronald Martin and wife, Sherry, of Jefferson; two sisters-in-law, Ann Martin of Frederick, and Audrey Blank of Walkersville; special cousin, Sue Kinna and husband, Ronnie, of Myersville; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, Doris was predeceased by a brother, Richard Martin.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Stauffer Funeral Home, 104 E. Main Street, Thurmont.
Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, January 17 at Salem United Methodist Church, 12477 Wolfsville Road, Myersville, MD. 21773.
Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
