Ms. Doris Mae Cox, 84, of Thurmont died Sunday, February 1, 2015 at Frederick Memorial Hospital.
Born July 20, 1930 in Washington, DC, she was the daughter of the late Richard and Mary Kathryn Cox.
Doris worked for 30 years in communications at Providence Hospital in Washington, DC. She loved reading magazines, watching television, and enjoyed many trips with her family; especially to California and Cunningham Falls Lake. Doris loved spending time with her family, and she greatly cherished the company of her beloved dog, Buffy. Doris will be missed by all.
She is survived by her sister, Joyce Perry and husband (Bobby) of Thurmont, with whom she resided with for the past 20 years; a nephew, Robert Perry and wife, Leah; her niece, Kathy Morgan and husband, Bo; and great-nephews and great-nieces, Chris Perry, Mandi Morgan, Steve Perry, and Emily Mae Morgan.
In addition to her parents, Doris was predeceased by her grandmother, Effie Mae Hunter, and her aunt and uncle, Ruth and Ray Cicero.
The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. on Thursday, February 5, 2015 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 104 E. Main Street, Thurmont, where services will begin at 11 a.m. Officiating will be the Rev. Elsa Hurst.
Private interment will be in Ft. Lincoln Cemetery, Brentwood, MD.
