Doris Callahan

Mrs. Doris L. Callahan, 83, of Frederick, MD passed away, Sunday, October 6, 2013 at Citizens Care and Rehabilitation Center. She was the wife of the late George R. Callahan.

Born on April 4, 1930 she was the daughter of the late Roy and Irene Lantz Zimmerman

Doris was a member of Braddock Lutheran Church. She loved socializing and being around people. Doris was very much a nurturer and was a child care giver in her home for many years. She was also a hair dresser. Doris loved animals especially her cats Tom, Jerry and Thelma.

She is survived by her children Linda Boniface and partner Michael of Frederick, David Callahan and wife Shelley of Frederick, Timothy Callahan of Washington, D.C. and Teresa Hastings and husband John of Bishopville; grandchildren Benjamin Boniface and wife Jill, Sara Canonico and husband Aric, Kate August and husband Paul and Kristin Bodmer and husband Kevin; great-grandchildren Judd, Josie, Christopher,Caroline, Claire and Kyle; brother Charles "Bud" Zimmerman; her sister-in-law Frances Zimmerman. The family would like to thank Citizens Care and Rehab and Doris' personal care givers Chastity, Bonnie and Katie.

She is preceded in death by her brothers Roy Eugene Zimmerman and Bob Zimmerman and her sister Betty Brashears.

The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick on Wednesday, October 9, 2013 from 5-7 PM, where a memorial service will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, October 10.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to Frederick County Animal Control, Medical Fund, 1832 Rosemont Ave., Frederick, MD 21702.

Interment will follow at Linden Hills Cemetery.
