Donna Lee Zimmerman, 73, of Boonsboro, passed from this life on Thursday, May 23, 2019 at her home. She was birthed into heaven to join her husband, Gary L. Zimmerman Sr.

Born on March 3, 1946, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Lewis W. and Mary Jane (Kubert) Smith.

Donna was retired from working 25 years at The Urological Center in Hagerstown. She enjoyed spending time with family, whether camping or at the cabin. She was an avid bird watcher and looked forward to spring when the hummingbirds would return. She was also an active member of Chestnut Grove Bible Church and loved working with the children at VBS. Her family was very important to her and enjoyed the large gatherings during holidays Donna was 73 years of age.

Donna is survived by her sons and their families, Gary L. Zimmerman, Jr. and his wife, Erica and son, Matt French; Corey L. Zimmerman, and his wife, Valerie and their daughter, Alexis Zimmerman; four additional grandchildren; and her brother, Gary W. Smith Sr.

Her two siblings, Gloria Jean “Sissy” Smith and Lewis W. Smith Jr., have preceded her in passing.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 28, 2019 at Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike in Boonsboro.

A celebration of Donna's life journey will take place at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, May 29, 2019, at Chestnut Grove Bible Church, 3636 Chestnut Grove Road in Keedysville with Pastor Steven Cook officiating.  Burial will be held at Samples Manor Cemetery in Sharpsburg.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations may be made to Chestnut Grove Bible Church, 3636 Chestnut Grove Road, Keedysville, MD 21756 chestnutbiblechurch.org. or to Hospice of Washington County 747 Northern Avenue, Hagerstown, MD 21742.
