Donna Tkac

Donna Lynn Tkac (nee Coulson), age 68, died comfortably in her home in Walkersville, MD on Sunday, June 14th, 2015.
Born December 7th, 1946 in Toronto, Canada, to Thomas Carl Coulson and Marion Roselieu Pratte, she attended Dulaney High School and Towson University and graduated from Towson in 1968.  She obtained her Masters Degree in Early Childhood Education from Towson in 1978.  On August 4, 1973, she married Jerome Edward Tkac and had three beautiful children together.
She lived in Walkersville most of her life and enjoyed working most as a dedicated teacher at the Banner School until retiring in 2010. She was an avid supporter of the arts and also loved to paint in her free time.
Donna lived her life with dignity and grace. She was always dressed to the nine's and her infectious laughter was healing to her loved ones and strangers alike. She lived her life "her way" to the fullest.  As a teacher she was passionate to guide each soul in her classroom.  As "Mom" and "Nana", she was so selfless and made her children and grandchildren feel so special. She taught everyone around her to just be in the moment and just dance to the music.
She is survived by her husband, 1 son, 2 daughters, 4 grandchildren, 1 sister, 1 niece , 2 nephews and families listed. They include husband Jerome Edward Tkac (69) and son Charles Thomas Tkac (32) of Walkersville, daughter Kelly Melissa Mehaffie (38), Eric Fritzgerald Mehaffie (37), Sarah Madison Mehaffie (8) and Katelyn Nicole Mehaffie (6) of Greer, South Carolina; daughter Lisa Engelke (35), Kenneth Howard Engelke Jr (46), Samuel Charles Engelke (5) and Layla May Engelke (3) of New Market, MD; sister Carol Annette Mackowiak (66), Edward Charles Mackowiak (66) of Woodbine, MD; nephew Jason Thomas Mackowiak (38), Jeanne Marie Mackowiak (40), Aidan Edward Mackowiak (8), Allison Jane Mackowiak (6) of Abingdon, MD; niece Erin Elizabeth Gresham (34), Rev. Bret-Ashton Goodwin Gresham (35), Clara Wimberly Gresham (5), Lawson Elizabeth Gresham (2) of Christainsburg, VA; brother in-law Frank Xavier Tkac (68) and Gayla Jeanne Tkac of Chambersburg, PA, and nephew Ryan Everett Tkac (36) of Monkton, MD.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents Marion Rosalieu Pratte and Thomas Carl Coulson.
Friends and relatives are welcome to join the family at St. Timothy's Roman Catholic Church in Walkersville, MD on Thursday, June 18th, 2015 at 10 am for the viewing, and an 11 am Catholic ceremony and reception immediately following. She will be privately cremated at Stauffer Funeral Home in Frederick, MD.
