Donna Arlene Brognard, 77, of Middletown, Maryland, passed from this life on Saturday, May 28, 2022, at Sunrise Assisted Living in Frederick, MD. She was the beloved wife of John Brognard Sr. for 52 years.
Born on May 6, 1945, in Waynesboro, PA, she was the daughter of the late Richard Pryor and Margaret Arlene (McGlaughlin) Pryor.
Donna was loved by everyone she met. She had a very kind, joyful spirit which brought a smile to your face whenever you were with her. She loved the kids and teachers she served when she worked at Ballenger Creek Middle School and treated them as her own. Known fondly as Miss Donna, the kids and staff loved her.
She loved her family fiercely; they were her heart. She was the best wife and Mom that any man or children could ever ask for. She loved to fly fish, hike and just be in nature. She gave us all her love of the sunsets that she said “God painted” in the evening for us to enjoy. She had a mischievous side to her that always made her family and friends laugh. She loved spending time with their best friends, Ruby and Don, Larry and Cindy, and Russ and Charlotte. They had wonderful trips together especially to Alaska. She loved to travel. John and Donna were quite the adventurers. They traveled to Montana, Wyoming, Alaska, Washington State, Maine, England, Ireland, and Wales to name just a few, fly fishing wherever they found a stream.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children Martha L. Brognard and John F. Brognard, Jr., as well as her sister and brother-in-law, Dolores and Richard Weddle and their son Steve. She has two grandchildren, Liam, and Finn Brognard, who were one of the biggest joys in her life. She loved spending time with them. And they loved their Gammie.
Donna’s last 2 ½ years were spent at Sunrise Assisted Living Facility in Frederick, MD, as she struggled with late onset Alzheimer’s. They took wonderful care of her, and her family could not have asked for a better place for her. They loved her dearly and they became family. She was known to many as their “favorite” resident. They too are mourning her loss, but she is in a better place now. We picture her reunited with her Mom and Dad and playing with her beloved dog Brutie.
She was a blessing to all who knew her. Her beautiful light will be greatly missed in this world.
A celebration of Donna's life journey will take place at 2:00 pm on Sunday, June 5, 2022, at Stauffer Funeral Homes, P.A. (Fred), 1621 Opossumtown Pike in Frederick, MD. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations made to help fight this terrible disease. We were blessed that to the end she still remembered us. If you would like, you can make a tribute donation to the Alzheimer’s Association at act.alz.org /donate. The family would greatly appreciate this.
