Donna S. Boyer Bowie, age 59, entered heaven on May 15, 2015, with her children and husband at her side, and with her mother welcoming her. She had pancreatic cancer.
Donna was born on July 3, 1955 in Frederick County, Maryland. She is the daughter of her loving father, Maurice L. Boyer, and her dear, sweet mother, Sandra L. Boyer, who passed away on October 14, 2010 that Donna missed dearly. She also leaves behind her husband of 11 years, and friend of 26 years, Rick Bowie, that she loved so much.
Donna loved Frederick County, MD, though for the last 5 years she and Rick lived in beautiful Sunset Beach, North Carolina. Her favorite time of the year was summer when her kids and grandkids would take turns coming to visit all summer long. Donna loved being around her family, and they were the most important thing in her life. Donna was a 1973 graduate of Linganore High School. She had many great and lasting memories there. She also loved to bowl at Mt. Airy Lanes and Walkersville Bowling Center, and she cherished the people she bowled with and against. "Good times." Donna loved to laugh at herself and have her kids tell her something they said or did that was funny. She especially loved to hear what her grandkids did or said because that brought her the most laughter. On May 7, 2015 Donna's dream became a reality and she was able to celebrate the sacraments of Christian initiation: Baptism, Confirmation, and Holy Communion. Thank you Father Jeremy! To cherish their mother's memory, her beautiful children that made her so proud, Heather M. Stutzman and son-in-law Keith Stutzman, Steven C. Pope and daughter-in-law, Leisa M. Pope, Mandy L. Shipley and son-in-law Matt Shipley. Also Donna's joy and the love of her life were her 8 grandchildren, Taylor M. Stutzman, Brayden L. Stutzman, Grayson M. Stutzman, Adam R. Pope, Jonathan M. Pope, Derek K. Pope, Jordan E. Shipley, and Camryn P. Shipley. Donna is also survived by her brothers and sisters that she is very close to, Barbara Garst and Dick Garst, Cindy Oxley, Eddie Boyer and Beth Boyer, Jimmy Boyer and Sue Boyer, and Shari Phillips and John Phillips. Also countless nieces and nephews, great-nieces, great nephews, aunts, uncles and many cousins.
The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick on Tuesday, May 19, 2015 from 4-8PM where a funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 20 at 10:30AM.
Donna loves flowers or you can make a donation to Hospice of Frederick Co, P.O. Box 1799, Frederick, MD 21702.
