Donald {Mitch} Mitchell, Sr.

Mr. Donald Mitch Mitchell, Sr. of Adamstown, MD, died Friday, August 21, 2009 at the Washington County Hospital, Hagerstown. He was the husband of Marilyn Babe Dunmeyer Mitchell.

Born June 6, 1937 in Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Thomas and Florence Mitchell.

Mr. Mitchell was a member of the FraternalOrder of the Moose Lodge #371 and the American Legion Post #11.

He served his country in the U. S. Army and retired as a technical editor, after 32 years, from BAE Systems.

In addition to his wife he is survived by his children Linda Sherman and friend Alex Dellon of Lake Elsinore, CA, Donald Mitchell, Jr and wife Susan of Rohrersville, Rebecca Counsellor and husband Frank of Harpers Ferry and Tracy Barth and friend Daniel Hebb , grandchildren Jason Sherman and wife Michelle of Breckenridge, CO, Channing Sherman and wife Cara of Vail Colorado, Jessica Mitchell and friend Justin Clevinger of State Line, PA, Donald Mitchell, III of Rohrerstown, Jennifer Horton and friend John Bigelow of Seattle, WA, Brian Horton and friend Angie Gomez of Harpers Ferry, Zachary Barth and Rachel Barth both of Frederick, great grandchildren Sierra and Ava Sherman, his brothers and sister Dana Bud Mitchell and wife Kim, Thomas Mitchell and wife Marilyn, William Mitchell and wife Carol and sister Mary Lou Frye. Many nieces and nephews also survive.

He was preceded in death by a daughter Debra Mitchell-Wood.

Services: Friends may call on Friday August 28, 2009 from 3-4pm at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick were Memorial services will begin at 4:00pm in the Funeral Home Chapel. The Reverend Lloyd Fuss will officiate.
Interment will be private.
