Donald "Don" Shumaker

Donald "Don" Lee Shumaker, 74, of Boonsboro, Maryland, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, December 10, 2012 at his home while surrounded by his loving family.

Born on May 9, 1938 in Keedysville, Maryland, he was a son of the late John W. and Florence L. (Long) Shumaker.
Don had been employed for over 20 years with Mack Truck in Hagerstown where he worked as a machinist.
Don was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean War.
He was a member of Boonsboro Family Worship Center.
Don was Past-President of First Hose Company of Boonsboro and Past Grand of the Potomac Lodge #31 Fraternal Order of Odd Fellows in Hagerstown.  He was also a member of AMVETS Post #10 in Hagerstown: the Clopper-Michael American Legion Post #10 in Boonsboro; the Improved Order of Redmen Tribe #84 in Williamsport; the United Auto Workers Union Local #171; the Washington County Fire Police; and also was a member of the Citizen's Patrol in Boonsboro.
He is survived by his wife, B. Elizabeth "Liz" (Palmer) Shumaker; two daughters, Brenda L. Kefauver and Crystal L. Shumaker, both of Boonsboro; one sister, N. Lorraine Moore of Keedysville; two grandchildren, Rev. Bradley Kefauver and wife Kellie of Boonsboro, and Brittany (Kefauver) Jones and husband Travis of Raleigh, North Carolina; three great grandchildren, Jordan, Sydnie and Daniel. He is also survived by his loving dog, Darlin'.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Shumaker and a sister, Dolores L. Holder.
A funeral ceremony will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, December 14, 2012 at the Boonsboro Family Worship Center, 7605 Old National Pike, Boonsboro. Rev. Bradley M. Kefauver and Rev. Jack C. Payne, Jr. will officiate.  Final resting ceremonies will follow at the Boonsboro Cemetery with Military Honors being rendered by the Clopper-Michael American Legion Post #10 of Boonsboro.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, December 13, 2012 at the Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro, Maryland.
