Mr. Donald Carson Earp, Sr., 85, of Frederick, died on Friday, August 28, 2009 at Northampton Manor Health Care Center. He was the loving husband of Sara Catherine ( Riggleman ) Earp, his wife of 61 years.
Born on February 10, 1924 in Germantown, MD he was a son of the late Washington Lee Earp and Viola May ( Mulligan ) Earp.
He regularly attended church, was a member of Victory Christian Center A/G and served as head usher until his health failed.
Mr. Earp was inducted in the armed forces in 1943 as PFC, Co. H in the 85th Mountain Infantry Regiment as a heavy machine gunner and did his over seas duty in Italy. Upon his discharge in1946, he became employed at NIH , Bethesda, MD, starting out as grounds keeper and later a truck driver. He retired from there with 36 years of service including his U.S. Army service. He was a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, N.A.R.F.E. He loved the outdoors and most days you could find him working on lawn mowers or some other gasoline motor.
Surviving beside his wife are two sons; Donald c. Earp, Jr. And wife Wendi of Adamstown, Wayne D. Earp and wife Susan of Abington, PA, 7 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and a brother Harry Morris Earp of Salisbury.
Mr. Earp was preceded in death by 3 brothers; Henry, James and Stanley Earp and 2 sisters; Dorothy Riggleman and Lillian Moton.
Visitation: Family will receive friends at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike Frederick, on Sunday, August 30th, from 6:00 p.m. To 8:00 p.m.
Services: Services will be held on Monday at 2:00 p.m. At Victory Christian Center A/G, 7722 Edgewood Church Rd., Frederick. Rev. Dr. Michael Garland will officiate. Interment in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Victory Christian Church.
