Donald Wastler, Sr.

Donald Lee Wastler, Sr., 70, of Thurmont, passed away on August 29 at Frederick Memorial Hospital.  He was the husband of Darlene Lois Wastler.  Born on April 6, 1947, in Thurmont, he was the son of Roy Elbert Wastler and Clara Rachel Harbaugh Wastler.

Mr. Wastler was a strong man of faith, being a lifelong member of both Trinity United Church of Christ and Weller United Methodist Church.  He worked as a bundle handler at Claire Frock and was a custodian at both Catoctin High School and Thurmont Elementary School.  Donald was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.

In addition to his wife Darlene,  he is survived by sons Donald Lee Wastler, Jr. and wife Kelly and Steve Leroy Wastler and friend Sharon Lewis; grandchildren Jacob, Jonny and Destiny Wastler; Casey and Jeremy Connally as well as Adam and Kyle Lewis; a great-grandson, Silas Connally; mother-in-law Josephine Eyler; sister-in-law Edith Wastler and special friends Jim and Debbie Hobbs and Dave and Shirley Eichelberger. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Richard "Dick" Wastler.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 31 from 6:00 to 9:00 PM at Stauffer Funeral Home, 104 East Main Street, Thurmont.  Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 1 at 11:00 AM at Trinity United Church of Christ, 101 East Main Street, Thurmont, Pastor Sean Delawder officiating.  Serving as pallbearers will be Jake Wastler, Jeremy Connally, Dave Eichelberger, Lee Eyler, Jr., Rick Wivell, Mark Eyler, Donald Eyler, Jr. and Matthew Eyler.  Interment will be in Blue Ridge Cemetery, Thurmont.
