Donald Shry

Mr. Donald Mason Shry, 85, of Thurmont, Maryland, passed away Tuesday, March 27, 2012 at St. Catherines Nursing Home. He was the husband of Thelma Marie Reinert Shry, his wife of 37 years.
Born January 21, 1927 in Poolesville, Maryland, he was the son of the late Nelson and Bessie Mae Fawley Shry.
Mr. Shry attended Elmer Wolfe and Taneytown Schools. He served his Country in the U.S. Navy. Donald was a past member of the Union Bridge VFW Post #8806 and a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose #371, Elks #684, American Legion Post #0168, AMVETS and the Emmitsburg VFW Post #6658. He retired from Lehigh Cement Co. after many years of service and also was a volunteer at the Frederick Memorial Hospital. He enjoyed eating regularly at “Skippers”
He is survived by two daughters Susie Shry of Gettysburg, PA and Donna Jean Doodridge of York, PA., granddaughter Felicia Dawn Woodson of Martinsburg, WV and two great grandchildren Andrew and Jared Woodson. He was preceded in death by his sisters Mary Welty, Lillian Airing, Alice Morningstar, Margaret Mills and Virginia Valentine.
The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 104 E. Main Street, Thurmont, MD on Sunday, April 1, from 3 -5 pm, where services will be held Monday, April 2, at 11:00 am with Rev. Sean DeLawder officiating.
Interment Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
