Donald Sandy

Donald Arlington Sandy, 81, of Rohrersville, Maryland, passed away peacefully into the arms of his Lord on December 22, 2019 at Doey’s House in Hagerstown. He was the beloved husband of 60 years to Joy Suzanne (Holbruner) Sandy.

Born on April 10, 1938, in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late Joseph Ward and Eva Iola (Grams) Sandy. Donald was raised in Rohrersville, Maryland. After high school, he served in the United States Army, serving his country honorably. Following his service he went on to work for MP Moller and worked until his retirement for General Motors Company. His time was spent enjoying every moment he could with his family, sharing many outdoor activities with his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, and loved spending time outdoors but family was always the most important. Donald was a longtime member of Bethel United Methodist Church and enjoyed an active role within the church, serving on various committees.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Michelle Griffin and Jeff Rowe, Donald Sandy and wife Harriet and Daniel Sandy and wife Sherry Rhoton; five grandchildren, Taylor Griffin, Kamren Griffin, Ethan Sandy, Rachel Gebhart and Ryan Martin; and one great granddaughter, Auden Gebhart.

The family will receive friends from 6-8pm on Friday, December 27, 2019 at the Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro, MD 21713.

A funeral service will be held at 11am on Saturday, December 28, 2019 at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery.
