Mr. Donald E. Runkles, 82 passed away on Thursday, January 26, 2012 at Northampton Manor Nursing Home. He was the husband of the late Laura Frances Runkles.
Born November 30, 1929 in Frederick, Maryland he was the son of the late Lena Runkles.
He ran numerous taverns in Frederick County and the last being the Airport Inn. He retired from ADP as a currier.
He was an avid fisherman and was a member of the Bass Angler Society. He was also a Life Member of the Moose Lodge, a member of the Elks Lodge, The Eagles, The AMVETS , the South Mountain Gun Club and the Blue Ridge Sportsman Club.
He is survived by his step daughter, Frances Hooper and husband Daniel of Rocky Ridge, a sister, Genieve Ellis of Frederick. He will also be remembered by his numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his five step sons and one step daughter.
The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick on Sunday, January 29 from 2-4 and 6-8PM. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Monday, January 30 at 10:00AM with the Rev. Albert K. Lane III officiating.
Interment will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
