Donald Lohman

April 24, 1939 — February 3, 2021

Donald Lee Lohman, 81, of Boonsboro, MD went to be with the Lord and Savior, Wednesday, February 3, 2021, at Meritus Medical Center, surrounded by his beloved family.

Born on Monday, April 24, 1939, in Sharpsburg, MD, he was the son of the late Harry Leo and Nora Virginia (Griffith) Lohman. He was the husband of Silvia Jane (Morgan) Lohman with whom he shared 59 years of marriage.

Donald graduated from Boonsboro High School in 1957. In his early years, he was a former employee of the Pangborn Corp. in Hagerstown, MD, was later employed with Eastalco Aluminum in Frederick, MD, and with Thompson Gas and Electric in Boonsboro, MD.

He was a member of Mt. Nebo United Methodist Church. Donald was a member of Boonsboro Son's of the American Legion Post 10 and later transferred to American Legion Post 211 in Funkstown, MD.  He was a lifetime member of Williamsport Red Men Tribe 84; he volunteered for many years and was a lifetime member of the Boonsboro Volunteer Ambulance and Rescue Company 69, the First Hose Company of Boonsboro, the Sharpsburg Volunteer Fire Company and the Fire Police of Washington County, MD.  His hobbies included, gardening where he raised over 200 heals of cantaloupe each year, having people come from Washington, D.C. just to buy a Boonsboro Cantaloupe.  This is where he picked up the nick name Loupe.

He also enjoyed camping and bus tour trips with family and friends, watching the squirrels that would visit the backyard, and volunteering any place that he was needed. He would make new friends everywhere he went.

Surviving, besides his wife, are his two daughters, that he was immensely proud of, Tina M. Jones and her husband, Terry L. Jones, and Tammy S. Langley, all of Boonsboro; grandson, Ryan M. Langley of Sharpsburg; sister, Joyce A. Turner and husband, Richard of Mapleville; brother, Richard E. Lohman and wife, Susan, of Hagerstown; several nieces, nephews and their families; and an abundance of faithful friends.

Donald was preceded in death by grandson, Shawn M. Langley; stepdad, Gardner Leon Lohman; sister, Catherine Lohman; and brother, Henry Lohman.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, February 7, 2021 at Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike in Boonsboro, MD. During the visitation, limited capacity, wearing masks, and social distancing will be enforced.

Funeral services will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Boonsboro Vol. Ambulance Co. 69, Boonsboro First Hose Co. 6, Sharpsburg Volunteer Fire Dept. Co. 1, or to the charity of your choice.
