Donald Edward Kendle, 86, of Boonsboro, Maryland passed away on Saturday, January 15, 2011.
Born on June 23, 1924 in Maugansville, Maryland, he was the son of the late Martha (Stine) Kendle.
Donald was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during World War II.
He was a member of the Dixon-Troxel American Legion Post #211 in Funkstown, Maryland and the Amvets Post #10 in Hagerstown. He was also a member of the Seniors Bowling League at the Southside Bowling Center in Hagerstown.
Donald was retired from Columbia Gas Company.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Betty Jane Kendle; his two daughters, Bonnie and her husband Tim Lewis of Hagerstown and Judith Beard of Boonsboro; his four sisters, Kate Myers, Joanne Brining, Doris Roberts and Cora Snowberger all of Hagerstown; his four brothers, Ralph, Harry and Preston Kendle all of Hagerstown and Leon Kendle of Boonsboro; his two grandchildren, Deanna Beard of Waynesboro, Pennsylvania and Sean Lewis of Hagerstown; and his step-grandson Chris Lewis and his wife Eva of Virginia Beach, Virginia. He is also survived by one great-grandson, Alex Miller and one step great-grandson Brody Lewis.
In addition to his mother, Donald was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Richard Kendle.
The family will receive friends at a memorial visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at the Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike in Boonsboro . No funeral service will be scheduled and burial will take place at the convenience of the family.
