Mr. Donald “Don” E. Holloway, 65 of Jefferson, Maryland passed away on Friday, September 25, 2015 at his home. He was the husband of Tina S. Holloway.
Born March 15, 1950 in Chattanooga, TN he was the son of the late William B. Holloway and the late Beulah Holloway.
Don served in the United States Army from 1969-1975.
He retired from the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office as a Sergeant after 23 years of service. He had previously worked as an officer with the Frederick City Police Department for 7 years.
He was a member of the Jefferson Volunteer Fire Company, the American Legion Post 11 and a Life Member of the Fraternal Order of Police.
He was an avid motorcycle rider and loved to travel.
In addition to his loving wife Tina, he is survived by two daughters, Erin Shoemaker and husband John of Urbana, Ami Sanders and fiancé Matt Bryant of Urbana, a brother Michael Holloway, a sister Brenda Akowsky and husband Joe and six grandchildren, Emma Shoemaker, Nicolas Shoemaker, Ava Sanders, Hunter Bryant, Tyler Bryant and McKayla Bryant.
He will also be remembered by his numerous friends and colleagues.
He is preceded in death by two brothers, Ronald and Stanley Holloway and a sister Constance “Connie” Betancourt.
The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick on Tuesday, September 29th from 2-4 and 7-9PM. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, September 30th at 11:00AM with Rev. Tim May officiating.
Interment with military honors will be held at the Jefferson Reformed Cemetery, Jefferson, Maryland.
Memorial contributions may be made in Don’s name to the Jefferson Volunteer Fire Company, P.O. Box 578, Jefferson, MD 21755.
