Donald Wayne Guyton, 75, of Middletown, passed away on Friday May 6, 2016 at his home. He was the husband of Louise Toms Guyton. Born in Burkittsville on November 12, 1940, he was the son of the late Maurice T. Guyton and Anna Louise Harshman Guyton.
Donald graduated from Middletown High School in 1958 and then enlisted in the 558th Signal Company, Army Reserve. As a well-known electrical contractor in the Frederick and surrounding areas, Donald was retired from the family business he started 51 years ago. He served as president of the Burkittsville Ruritan Club and was the founding president of the Catoctin Valley Snowmobile Association. Donald enjoyed recreational farming and restoring antique vehicles. He was known for his love of both Ford trucks and tractors and John Deere tractors. He will be remembered for his quick wit, love for debate, and willingness to extend a helping hand to customers, community, friends, and family.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two children, Phil Guyton and wife Beth, of Myersville, and Tyra Guyton of Smithsburg, one sister, Teresa Shafer and husband Gary, of Middletown, four grandchildren, Lacey and Mikayla Guyton of Myersville, and Lillyanna and Riley House of Smithsburg, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on May 14, 2016 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, beginning at 2:00 PM. The family will receive visitors one hour prior to service.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Community Foundation of Frederick County for the Donald W. Guyton Memorial Scholarship, a scholarship for students entering the electrical profession through vocational or trade schools.
