Donald Dunbar

Mr. Donald A. Dunbar, 74, of Frederick, Maryland, passed away on Thursday, November 22, 2018 at home with his loving wife of 48 years, Barbara, by his side.
Born on October 27, 1944, in Norfolk, VA, Don was the son of the late Charles E. and Grace E. (Alley) Dunbar.
After attending Granby High School in Norfolk, VA, Don joined the United States Army Infantry, 82nd Airborne Division. He enjoyed the time he was stationed in Okinawa and was honorably discharged in 1964.
Don received a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from the University of Baltimore in 1970 and a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Baltimore Law School in 1973.
Don had many interests and hobbies, including fly fishing, duck and bird hunting, photography, golf, pencil sketching, and watercolor painting. He loved watching old classic movies, and westerns, especially John Wayne movies. As an avid outdoorsman, he never missed an opportunity to see a sunrise or sunset. Don had a knack for finding humor in any situation, he could communicate with people of all ages, and made friends everywhere he went.
He will be missed by his fishing buddies at the barn pools in West Yellowstone, Montana.
In addition to his wife, Barbara, he is survived by daughters and their families: Brooke Dunbar and her husband, Peter Squire and grandsons, Benton, Dean and Evan Squire of Alexandria, VA and Katie Davis and her husband, Ryan and granddaughter, Langley Davis of Olympia, Washington. He is also survived by a sister, Shirley Heintzelman of Grasonville, MD; two nieces, Renee Abell and her husband, Richard, of Grasonville, MD and Debbie Shipley of Bowie, MD; and a nephew, Michael Stone and his wife, Peggy, of Cockeysville, MD.
A celebration of Donald's life will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, November 29, 2018, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike in Frederick, MD with Rev. Larry Eubanks officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services Thursday at the funeral home.
Inurnment at Arlington National Cemetery will be held at a later date.
The family would like to thank Hospice of Frederick County for their assistance during his illness.
