Mr. Donald DeWitt, 72, of Oakland, MD, passed away Monday, January 2, 2012. Born October 18, 1939, he was the son of the late Richard and Daisy DeWitt. He was the husband of Erma DeWitt, and was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly Ruth DeWitt.
Prior to retiring, Don was employed for many years by H.B. Duvall, Dairymen Incorporated, and Renn-Kirby Pontiac in Frederick, MD. He loved baseball and devoted many years to coaching Shookstown Little League and Babe Ruth League in Frederick. He also loved to hunt and fish with his sons.
Surviving in addition to his wife are sons Scott DeWitt and his wife Sue of Middletown, MD and Donald DeWitt, Jr. and his wife Susan of Frederick, MD; Grandchildren, Steven DeWitt of Rockville, MD, Christopher DeWitt of Arlington, VA and Ashley DeWitt of Frederick, MD. In addition, Don is survived by his stepchildren, Victoria Thomas and her husband Samuel, Marsha Lancaster and her children, Jessica Bennett and her husband Brandon, Lacey House and Kaleb Wost, and Bill Lansberry and his wife Mia, and their children, Chas Lansberry, Brian Lansberry, Cole Lansberry.
The family will receive friends at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, MD on Monday, January 9, 2012 at 10 a.m. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. with Deacon George Sisson, Holy Family Catholic Community officiating. Interment Mt. Zion Cemetery, Frederick, MD.
