Domenico O. Napoleon was born in Wappingers Falls, New York on August 29, 1916 to Oliver and Anna Trabucco Napoleon. He passed away on December 16, 2015 at

Kline Hospice House in Mount Airy, Maryland.

He married Charlotte Townsend at St. Mary’s Church in Wappingers Falls in January 1944.  Charlotte preceded him, after 53 years of marriage, on November 24, 1996.

A lifelong resident of Wappinger, he was educated in local schools, then attended UCLA and the Army’s Officer Candidate School. He moved to Walkersville, Maryland in 2001.

Dom served overseas in World War II as an AAA Artillery Lieutenant and Infantry Unit Commander.  He was a former member of the American Legion, the American Infantry Association, and a charter member of the National World War II Veterans Memorial.

After the war, he spent 36 years at the Texaco Research Center in Beacon, New York.  He retired in 1980 as Foreman of the Combustion Section.

Dom was active in politics in the 1960s, serving three terms as a Trustee in Wappingers Falls.  His resolution opposing the closing of Castle Point Veterans Hospital was adopted by local board and placed in the Congressional Record by Congressman Joseph Resnick in 1964.  He chaired the committee that purchased the Wappinger Lake.  He believed that the ‘60s saw the greatest renaissance in the history of the village, and was proud of his role.

Dom will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and friend.  He is survived by his daughter Susan Napoleon Richter and husband Randy of Walkersville, Maryland; his son-in-law Joseph Murphy of Woodbine, Maryland; seven grandchildren: Chris Richter (Leslie), Jennifer Doyle (Brian), Dan Murphy, Sean Murphy, Katie Phelps, Brian Greco, and Nancy Perry; twelve great-grandchildren: Charlotte Richter, Caroline Doyle, Margaret Doyle, Devan Murphy, Tyler Murphy, Daylon Murphy, Lyndsey Phelps, Rachel Phelps, Stephen Phelps, Audrey Greco, Avery Greco, and Jackson Perry; his four-legged friends Mia, Henry, Shabadoo, and Gabby; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews; and many, many old and new friends.  He was predeceased by sisters Margaret Napoleon and Gaetana Napoleon, brother Armand Napoleon, and daughter Gail Napoleon Murphy.

There will be no calling hours.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, December 28, 2015 at 10:00AM at St. Mary’s Church on Clinton Street in Wappingers Falls, New York.  Dom will be buried with his wife at Wappingers Rural Cemetery, with arrangements coordinated by the Delehanty Funeral Home, 64 E. Main Street, Wappingers Falls, New York.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Kline Hospice House, 7000 Kimmel Road, Mount Airy, Maryland 21771.
