Dolores "Doe" Slaughter Horch

Ms. Dolores “Doe” Slaughter Noland Horch, 82, of Walkersville passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by family on Tuesday, December 14th, 2010.

Born May 14, 1928 in Conesville, Ohio, she was the daughter of Dewey Henry and Opal Slaughter Noland.

She is survived by her daughter Dianne Horch Stull, son David Horch (Rebecca), daughter Drue Horch McAllister (Brian) and daughter-in-law Kaylie Horch; sisters Maggie Noland Blackburn (Paul), Betty Ann Noland Sigler, Wanda Noland Lawton (Jim), Judy Noland Knotts, and Marilyn Noland; grandchildren Timothy Stull, Andrew Stull, Jessica Horch, Kelsey Horch, Mia Horch and Mason Horch; great-grandchildren Noah Stull and Chase Stull. She is also survived by her former husband, Richard Horch.

She was preceded in death by brothers Dean Noland and Bruce Noland, granddaughter Lindsay Stull, and son Douglas Horch.

She was always very active in her community, including President/Board of Directors at the Gale House, Frederick Memorial Hospital, and the Walkersville Business & Professional Association. She was a member of the Frederick County Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Before moving to Frederick MD, she and husband Richard lived in Lawrenceville, NJ, where she was active in the Lawrenceville Presbyterian Church, The Women’s Club at the Lawrenceville Prep School, and various activities at the Princeton University. Most recently she enjoyed being Chief of Special Events for the Walkersville Southern Railroad. Special thanks to everyone at the Frederick Memorial Hospital Regional Cancer Therapy Center for their kind and compassionate care. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Red Cross.

The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 40 Fulton Ave., Walkersville, MD on Friday, December 17th from 2-4 and 7-9PM. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, December 18th at 11:00AM with Pastor Stephen W. Humphrey officiating.

Interment will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
