Mrs. Dolores J. Summers, 79, of Frederick, Maryland, passed away Sunday, March 13, 2016 at Citizens Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
She was the wife of Arthur F. Summers, Jr., her husband of 49+ years.
Born October 4, 1936 in Middletown, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Russell and Nellie Nale Hoffman.
Mrs. Summers was a long time member of Centennial Memorial United Methodist Church where she has served as chairman of the board and many other committees for many years. Dolores was a lay member to the Conference for many years. She taught Sunday School Class and led the Junior Choir and sang in the church choir in early years. She played in Yellow Springs Concert Band for over 60 years. She enjoyed golfing, traveling and had traveled to 49 of 50 states. Dolores retired from Hood College after 47 years of service.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her special friends Karen James and Barbara Neal. She was preceded in death by three sisters Elsie Martz, Buela Guyton and Mariam Hoffman and five brothers Junior Russell Hoffman, Harold Hoffman, Eugene Hoffman, Donald Hoffman and Paul Hoffman.
The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick on Thursday, March 17, from 2-4 and 6-8:00 pm where services will be held Friday March 18, at 11:00 am with Rev. Dr. Helen Smith officiating.
Interment Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
