Dolores Pauline (Stup) Burns, age 85, passed away on June 27, 2017 after a lengthy illness at William Hill Nursing Facility in Easton, Maryland.
She was born on June 3, 1932 in Frederick, Maryland to Paul and Mary Helen Stup.
On March 8, 1952 she married Richard Courtney Burns. They had two daughters Vicki and Renee, and soon relocated to Silver Spring. Eventually they built their home in Damascus; she loved her community and enjoyed life to the fullest.
Dolores worked for the Montgomery County libraries which encouraged her lifelong passion for literature. Books were her love and she imparted this love to her growing family. She was a gentle, loving woman and a devoted mother and grandmother.
Dolores and Courtney travelled the world with each other and their dear friends. After retiring she volunteered at the Frederick Memorial Hospital.
She is survived by her brothers, Louis, Carroll, Jerry Stup and sister Nancy Lamn, all of Frederick MD. Her daughters, Vicki (Jon) Renee (Mark) and Sam. Grandchildren, Lauren Bland, Courtney Gorman, Alexandra Bland, Connor Richard Bland, Mike Gorman, John Genovese, Chris and Carolyn Hedlund. Great granddaughters Hazel and Waylon Gorman.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, July 8, 2017 at Montgomery United Methodist Church, 28325 Kemptown Rd., Damascus, MD 20872. A private burial will follow.
