Diane Carole Ayers

July 6, 1951 — January 21, 2024

Mount Airy

Diane Carole (Parker) Ayers, a woman who was known for the joy she brought those around her, passed away on Sunday, January 21, 2024, at the age of 72 in Mount Airy, MD. She was born on July 6, 1951, in Bethesda, MD, and her life was full of love and laughter.

Diane was dedicated to her career at her parent's pharmacy in Kensington, where she served as the manager until her well-deserved retirement in 1994. Diane is survived by her loving children, son, John Ayers Jr.  (Lori), daughter, Laura Duggan (Steve); and daughter-in-law, Jessica Ayers. Cherished memories will forever be held by her eight grandchildren: Robert Ayers (Nicole), Sierra Duggan, Kylie Ayers, Trevor Duggan, Gregory “Mikey” Ayers Jr., Aryanna Ayers, Alexander Duggan, and Alexys Ayers.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Miriam Parker; husband, John Ayers Sr.; and son, Gregory Ayers, Sr.

Diane was a proud alumna of Springbrook High School, and she often donated to charity, including St. Jude's. Her face would light up with joy when she was surrounded by her grandchildren. She loved spending time with her family, attending lively parties, sipping on Bloody Marys and shots of tequila, and bringing laughter into people's lives. Her vibrant spirit left a mark on everyone she encountered.

Diane was known as the "grandmother of the community" due to her outgoing nature and genuine ability to connect with anyone. Her infectious sense of humor, combined with her remarkable ability to bring optimism to even the most challenging situations, made her a beloved presence in the lives of all those around her.

A celebration of Diane's life will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations in Diane's name to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital or the American Heart Association.

Those who were lucky enough to know her will forever cherish her legacy of love and laughter. May she rest in eternal peace.
