Dennis Kuhn

Dennis E. Kuhn, 64 of Thurmont, Maryland, passed away unexpectedly at his home Tuesday August 1, 2017. Born October 21, 1952 in Washington, DC, he was the son of the late John E. Kuhn and Dorothy Wafle-Kuhn. Dennis is survived by his wife of 44 years Sheila Kuhn, son Adam Kuhn and wife Mandy of Jefferson, Georgia, son Jeffrey Kuhn and wife Sarah of Lewistown, Maryland, daughter Heather Paxson and husband Micah of Waynesboro, Pennsylvania, eight grand-children, sister Debbie Kuhn-Auxier and husband Alan of Maryland and sister Lori Kuhn-Hendrickson and husband Karl of Ohio.

Dennis grew up in Silver Spring, Maryland. He attended St. John’s College high school in DC and attended the University of Maryland College Park with an interest in English. Having worked over 40 years in the Construction Industry and the last 15 years with Clark Construction as a Superintendent, Dennis has worked on some of the largest and most prominent projects in the Mid-Atlantic through out his career, including Inova Women’s and Children’s Hospital, MCI World Com Headquarters, Dulles Town Center, GWU Science and Engineering Hall, Association of American Medical Colleges Headquarters, U.S. Coast Guard Headquarters, Capital One Field at Maryland Stadium, Washington Headquarters Services, Boston Convention Center, Washington Convention Center, Nationals Park, Camden Yards, Strathmore Hall, Secret Service Headquarters, University Maryland Medical Center to name a few and most recently the Cannon House Office Building Renewal Project. Dennis was a master craftsmen, perfectionist, specialist in his craft, hard working and dedicated to his career. Throughout his career he’s touched so many lives, from mentoring the next generations in the industry and educating anyone who wanted to learn about something he knew a lot about. Dennis was adept at forming strong relationships with people, this included his clients, subcontractors and colleagues on his projects and everyone enjoyed working around him.

More importantly though……In addition to work, Dennis really enjoyed cooking for his family, yard work, college football, major league baseball, NASCAR, family beach trips, but he enjoyed nothing more than spending quality time with his Family. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to so many. Dennis would do anything for anyone, if there was a need he always found a way. He will be truly missed by so many.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to St. Jude’s Children Hospital or Victory Junction.
