Dennis Michael Jackson Sr., born on November 5, 1945, entered eternal rest on December 21, 2024, in Frederick, Maryland.
He is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife, Leona Florine Jackson, and his children Wakeena R Jackson, Amber M. Shrewsberry and her husband David, children Brooklyn, Braxton and Brielle. Dennis, known as DJ to friends and Pop pop to his beloved grandchildren, had many hobbies including golf and landscaping. He took pride in how his yard looked and often helped neighbors with their yards. He helped plan golf trips to S. Carolina where he and his buddies wore short plaid golf pants. He was involved in his community in other ways having coached for East Frederick Little League for many years. He was a member of ICC International Community Church and faithfully served in the First Impression ministry. He was also a Veteran of the United States Army. Dennis retired from Alcoa and worked part time at Walmart and Francis Scott Key Mall. Dennis was also a diehard Redskins (Commanders) fan in good times and in bad.
Dennis had a smile that was infectious and a bigger than life personality. He never met someone he couldn't have a long conversation with. Dennis’s life was a testament to faith, family and community. Those who knew him will cherish the memories of his steadfast love, commitment and unwavering devotion to those he held dear.
May his memory bring comfort and peace to all who mourn his passing. Dennis’s family would like to extend gratitude and thanks to members of the local community, family and the church family of ICC for your prayers and support at this time and going forward.
Thank you to the nurses and staff at Asbury Methodist Village, Citizen’s Nursing Home as well as the staff at Frederick Health hospital who helped care for Dennis over the past several years
