Dennis M. Ebersole, 85, of Sharpsburg, Maryland, passed from this life on Saturday, January 24, 2015 at Meritus Medical Center in Hagerstown, Maryland.
Born on June 21, 1929, in Antietam, Maryland, he was the son of the late Leonard Guy and Mary Ethel (Metz) Ebersole.
Dennis was veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Korean War.
He was employed with the National Park Service for 20 years, retiring in 1994.
Dennis was a member of Samples Manor Church of God and the Clopper-Michael American Legion Post 10 in Boonsboro.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Jane (Fraley) Ebersole; two children, Deborah J. Martz and Dennis L. Ebersole and wife Vicki, all of Sharpsburg; his sister-in-law, Mildred L. Ebersole of Hagerstown; and four grandchildren, Tara Martz, Justin Ebersole, Joshuah Ebersole, and William Howard. He is also survived by several great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Linda M. Howard; and his brother, Richard L. Ebersole.
A graveside funeral ceremony, officiated by Joseph Goetz, will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at Samples Manor Cemetery, 2128 Harpers Ferry Road in Sharpsburg. Military honors will be rendered by the Clopper-Michael American Legion Post 10 from Boonsboro.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, January 27, 2105, at the Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike in Boonsboro.
