Dena Caron Shaffer was born to Edmond and Marion Caron on April 3, 1957. She was raised in Wheaton, Maryland. She graduated from Wheaton High School in 1976. She also graduated from the Miami, Florida School of Design in 1978. She was a resident of Miami, Florida for 5 years before returning "home" to Maryland.
She became a resident of Frederick, Maryland in 1988. She worked at various occupations (sometimes 2 at once), but undertook studies and training to become a Pharmacy Technician and worked at several different Giant stores as such since 2001. She solely raised her two loving sons, Clint M. Shaffer and Wayne B. Shaffer. She is well remembered for her vibrant personality, radiant smile, and ability to make anyone feel at ease talking with her. She was always on the go, scheduling multiple events to attend or different vacations to take during the year. She never seemed tired and was always full of life. She fought a courageous yearlong battle against cancer, but passed away on September 20, 2014.
Dena is survived by her mother, Marion (Dolly) Caron; one brother, Edmond W. and wife Diana of Richmond, Virginia; 2 sons, Clint M. and Wayne B., both of Frederick; and close personal friend, Pete Storm of Frederick.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, September 25, 2014 at 2:00PM at the Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Mausoleum, 515 S. Market St., Frederick. It is requested to wear bright colored, cheerful, clothing to help remember not only how Dena used to dress, but to help remember all the bright, cheerfulness that she brought into all our lives.
