Deloris Bookman

Deloris Thomas Bookman, 84, of Beckley, West Virginia, formerly of Mount Airy, Maryland passed from this life on Wednesday, November 24, 2021.

Born on January 18, 1937, in Meade, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Joe Domingues and Malta (Bishop) Domingues.

She was a graduate of Concord College in Athens, West Virginia and retired from the Federal Government as an Executive Assistant after 25 years.

Deloris and the late Donald F. Thomas were married 46 years, he passed away in April of 2008.  They raised their family in Mount Airy, Maryland and cherished the small town serenity of country life. Deloris adored the simplicity of time spent with her family and loved gardening and bird watching. She was a member of the Mount Airy Baptist Church and enjoyed Bible Study Fellowship.

She is survived by spouse, Paul Kent Bookman, her children, Pamela Thomas King and husband, Marc, Beverly Thomas Himes and husband, Allen; one beloved grand-daughter, Lauren Nicole King; siblings, Manuel Domingues and Darlene Fink and husband, Donald. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her siblings, Delma Domingues Anderson and Raymond Domingues.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Monday, November 29, 2021 at Stauffer Funeral Homes, 8 East Ridgeville in Mt. Airy, Maryland. 21771.

A celebration of Deloris's life will take place at 11:00 am on Tuesday, November 30, 2021, at the funeral home.

Interment will be at Pine Grove Cemetery in Mount Airy, Maryland.
