Delbert Phelps

Mr. Delbert "Del" M. Phelps, 68, of Mount Airy, died Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2010, at Frederick Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Patricia Burdette Phelps.
Born Feb. 8, 1942, in Savage, he was the son of the late Everett and Edna C. Phelps.
He retired from the Navy Department and was former chief of the Savage Fire Department. He was a member of MSSA, loved fishing, boating, traveling, going on cruises and the Redskins.
He is also survived by four children, David and Craig Phelps, Karen Shockey and Nicholas Phelps; grandchildren, David "D.J.," Benjamin, Alyvia and Alyssa; and a sister, Judy Leishure. Many nieces and nephews also survive.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 16, at the Liberty Baptist Church, 1200 Madison, Lisbon.
In lieu of flowers, donations made in his memory may be made to the charity of one's choice.
