Debra Schlegel

December 27, 1956 — March 19, 2012

Debra “Debbie” Lynn (Rhoderick) Schlegel, 55, of Mount Airy, died on Monday, March 19, 2012 at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center in Baltimore.  She was the loving wife of John Schlegel.

Born December 27, 1956 in Olney, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Derroll Eugene and Roberta Marjorie (Jack) Rhoderick.  She worked as an Administrative Assistant in a variety of industries.  She enjoyed volunteering for non-profit organizations and causes including Frederick Memorial Hospital, Make-A-Wish Foundation, and organizations assisting active duty soldier’s families.  She loved NASCAR and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan.

Surviving in addition to her husband, John; are daughter Angela and husband John Stone Jr. of Frederick; stepson Matthew Schlegel of Houston, TX; son Justin Schlegel of Mount Airy; granddaughter Alyssa Stone; step grandson Ryan Stone; mother-in-law Betty Schlegel of Cleona, PA; uncle Delbert “Bub” Rhoderick and wife Emma; Uncles Jack Jack and Alan Jack; sisters and brothers -in-law:  Lois Schlegel, Gary & Joni Schlegel, Bill Schlegel, and Betty & Ray Sidle; and nephews and nieces – Shawn & Amanda Edwards, Jeffrey & Jennifer Edwards, Gregory Schlegel, Christopher Schlegel, Jennifer Schlegel, Samantha & Stephen Denney, Christina Schlegel, Eric & Denise Sidle, Jeremy Jack, and Krista Jack.

Friends and family may visit from 6-9pm on Friday, March 23, at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 8 East Ridgeville Blvd, Mount Airy where funeral services will be held at 11am on Saturday, March 24.  Pastor Earl Mason of Prospect United Methodist Church will officiate.

In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the family to defray funeral expenses.
