Deborah (Debi) Hurley

February 2, 1956 — August 6, 2012

Deborah (Debi) Jean Broadbent Hurley, 56, of Frederick, formerly from Thurmont, passed away Monday, August 6, 2012 at University of Maryland Medical Center.

Born February 2, 1956 in Frederick, she was the daughter of the late James A. Sr. and Dorothy M. Wisner Broadbent.

Debi was a 1974 graduate of Catoctin High School. In earlier years, she was employed by State Farm Insurance. She later worked as a manager in the dry cleaning business for many years in Arizona prior to moving back to Maryland in 2004. She most recently worked at Town Cleaners in Middletown until 2008 when her failing health caused her to retire early.

Debi loved life and lived it to the fullest. She was a very talented artist, just like her father, and she wanted to pursue her artistic passion. Her dreams were never fully achieved, however, due to her deteriorating health.

She loved her family and friends and was loved by all. She especially loved her kitties, Callie, Remy, Molly, and Lucy.

Debi is survived by three children, Sara Yvonne Hurley, Nicholas Emory Hurley, and Emory Neil Hurley; three siblings, Shirley Mary Cady and husband, Philip D., James A. Broadbent, Jr., and Linda Ann Allder and husband, Rod; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She also leaves behind her special friend and caregiver, Kevin McKnight.

She was predeceased by her grandparents, and many aunts and uncles.

Debi's family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 11, 2012 at Stauffer Funeral Homes, P.A., 104 E. Main Street, Thurmont. A memorial service will begin at 11 a.m. from the funeral home chapel. Officiating will be the Rev. Dr. Thomas Darner.

Interment will be private.

Memorial donations may be made to Frederick County Animal Control, 1832 Rosemont Ave., Frederick, MD 21701.
