Deborah "Debbie" Shifler

Deborah "Debbie" A. (Semler) Shifler, 48, of Falling Waters, West Virginia, passed from this life to receive her great reward on Wednesday, July 27, 2011 at her home.

Born on November 1, 1962, in Hagerstown, Maryland, she is the daughter of Elaine Virginia (Doyle) Semler of Columbia, Maryland and James and Teresa Semler of Martinsburg, West Virginia.

She was a 1980 graduate of Boonsboro High School.

Debbie was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Boonsboro, Maryland where she had served as the Vice President of the Church Council.  She was very active in many activities and was a volunteer at the Southern Washington County Food Pantry located at the church.  She was also a member of the Washington County Coalition of Lutherans and Thrivent Lutherans.

Debbie was also active with Habitat of Humanity having recently participated in a home building project in Smithsburg, Maryland.

Along with her husband, she was the former owner of Hub City Liquors at the South End Shopping Center in Hagerstown, and was most recently employed with Weis Markets in Ranson, West Virginia where she worked as a Grocery Leader.

Debbie was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She will be deeply missed and will be remembered for her love of feeding and watching birds.

Debbie is survived by her husband, Steven E. Shifler; her daughter, Amanda B. Shifler of Hagerstown; one sister, Patricia A. Semler of Hagerstown; and two brothers, Randall E. Semler of Baltimore, Maryland and Mark A. Semler of Greencastle, Pennsylvania.  She is also survived by her granddaughter Shaylynn P. Beauford, and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral ceremony will be held at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, August 2, 2011 at the Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro.  Rev. Blaine E. Feightner will officiate.  Final resting place ceremonies will take place at the Boonsboro Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, August 1, 2011 at the funeral home.
