Debbie always had a knack for making new friends wherever she went. She graduated from Walkersville High School in 1972 where she enjoyed all school activities. Most people in Walkersville will remember Debbie’s smiling face at the post office where she greeted customers for over 30 years until her retirement in 2011. Debbie was also a Sunday school and vacation bible school teacher at South End Baptist Church in Frederick, MD. Debbie’s greatest joy was the time spent with her family. She loved attending and volunteering at her sons’ and her grandchildren’s different activities and sporting events.
In addition to her husband Wayne, she is survived by two sons, Jeremy Wayne Peterson and wife, Jennifer of Walkersville, MD and Timothy Brett Peterson and wife Danielle of Great Falls, VA; five grandchildren, Abigail Susan and Madison Lynn Peterson of Walkersville, MD and Owen Toms, Cole Warner and Brynn Catherine Peterson of Great Falls, VA; one brother Richard Toms, Jr. and wife Pamela of Woodsboro, MD; nieces Chelsey Toms of Woodsboro, MD and Ashlen Toms Cotterman and husband Chad of Destin, FL; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and family friends; and her loyal basset hound, Little Beau.
