David Zimmerman

David Michael "Dave" Zimmerman, 27, of Cumberland, a loving husband, father, brother and son, died unexpectedly on Tuesday July 24, 2018. He was the husband of Rachael Zimmerman.

Born March 5, 1991 in Annapolis, he was the son of Tim and Diane (Huff) Zimmerman of Richmond, VA.

David was raised in West Virginia, and was a 2009 graduate of Frankfort High School, where he participated in marching band and soccer. David loved playing ice hockey from middle school thru high school graduation for the Cumberland River Rats, Altoona Trackers, and Holidaysburg Tigers .

He was a dedicated volunteer with the Bowling Green VFD. David was part of the swift water rescue team that rescued several lives during last month's flooding.

Above all else, David was a devoted father and lived each day for his kids. David was loved by all and will be greatly missed.

In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by his children, Leeland, Rosabelle, and Taleb; siblings, Timothy Sean Zimmerman and wife, Cat, and their children, Lyndon and Levi; and Kristin Elizabeth Murphy and husband, Chris, and their children, Tucker, Dax and Connor; grandmother, Joanne Huff; grandfather, Joseph Zimmerman and Barb; aunts and uncles, Michael Huff, Joey Zimmerman, Rachel Zimmerman, April Zimmerman, and Kevin Zimmerman; and additional family members.

David was predeceased by a grandfather, James Huff; a grandmother, Joan Zimmerman; an aunt, Karen Zimmerman; and an uncle Michael Zimmerman.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, August 1, 2018 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, MD 21702, where services will begin at 2 p.m. Pastor Bob Ryan of New Day Church will officiate.

Interment will be private.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to New Day Church, 214 Paca Street, Suite C, Cumberland, MD 21502.
