David Franklin Winklepleck, Sr. of Monrovia, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 30, 2014 at home with his family by his side. He was the loving husband of Lois Ellen Mobley Winklepleck for 44 years.
Born November 4, 1951 in Kansas City, Kansas, he is the son of Betty Winklepleck and the late Delbert Winklepleck.
David worked at Hahn Transportation in New Market until his retirement in 2009. He also worked at Frederick Community College as a motorcycle safety instructor.
David was a member of HOG Chapter of Frederick where he had been a safety officer prior to his illness.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Mary Ellen Winklepleck; and his grandchildren, Brianna, David III, and Donovan. Being called Granddad was his greatest joy in life.
He is also survived by his brother, Steve Winklepleck and wife, Kim; and his sisters, Sandy Kelly and husband, Mark, and Connie Desruisseau, and her late husband, Dessy. David also will be remembered by his special friends, Larry and Carol Davidson.
He was preceded in death by his beloved son, David Franklin Winklepleck, Jr., in 2010.
Graveside services will begin at 1 p.m. on Monday, July 7 at Parklawn Cemetery, 12800 Veirs Mill Road in Rockville. Pastor Mike Yoho of First Baptist Church of Green Valley will officiate.
