David Walker

David Wesley Walker, 75, of Keedysville, Maryland, passed away peacefully to be with his Lord and Savior while in the presence of family and friends on Thursday, August 8, 2013.

Born on August 10, 1937, in Nanty Glo, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Walter Emmanuel and Erma Melissa (Boring) Walker.  His loving wife of 50 years, Carol Jean (Rish) Walker, preceded him in death on February 7, 2010.

David was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother who was know for cherishing his time with his family.  He was a wonderful man known by many and will be missed by everyone.

David served in the Pennsylvania National Guard from 1956 until 1964, and was employed with the District of Columbia as an Elevator Safety Inspector.  After his retirement, he continued to work as a consultant.

For most of his life, David was a member of the Chestnut Grove Bible Church and he was a dedicated volunteer at Reeders Memorial Home in Boonsboro.

He is survived by his three children, Rodney L. Walker of Baltimore, Maryland, Stacey R. Russell of Maugansville, Maryland, and Shelly J. Walker of Hagerstown; one sister, Nancy Walker; and four brothers, Bill and wife Sharon, Bob and wife Wanda, Ken, and Tom and wife Darlene.  He will also be missed by his two grandchildren, Joshua and Jeni Guyer.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Gary Walker; and a sister, Donna Faye Walker.

A funeral ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, August 12, 2013 at the Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike in Boonsboro.  Rev. Rodney Doran will officiate.  Final resting place ceremonies will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Keedysville.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, August 11, 2013 at the funeral home, which will be open beginning at 12 noon.
