David Vaughn, Sr.

Mr. David Allen Vaughn, Sr., 52, of Thurmont, Maryland, passed away Friday, May 10, 2013 at his home.  He was the husband of Lori A. Ridenour Vaughn.  They were married May 13, 1989.

Born May 23, 1960, he was the son of  Lloyd  “Ike” K. Vaughn of Emmitsburg and the late Barbara Peters Vaughn.

David was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. He had attended Catoctin High School in Thurmont.  His last employment was with Hobb’s Trucking.  David  was a life member of the Vigilant Hose Co. and was Comissioner of Emmitsburg from 2001-2002.  He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

In addition to his wife and father, he is survived by his children David A. “Chip” Vaughn, Jr. and wife Ashley and Kyle D. Vaughn, a grandson Kaleb A. Vaughn, his siblings Debbie Wivell and husband Ronnie, Donna Seiss and husband Gary, Deana  Szymanski and husband Joe, Denny Vaughn, Dwayne Vaughn and wife Charmaine and Doug Vaughn and wife Christine,  his father and mother-in-law Ed and Kay Ridenour.  He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by a sister-in-law Rebecka Ridenour.

The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 104 E. Main Street, Thurmont for a memorial visitation on Sunday, May  12, from 3-5 and 7-9 pm.  A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Monday, May 13, at 2:00 pm from St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, St. Anthony’s Church Road, Emmitsburg, MD.

Interment will be private.
