David Tear Jr.

David Burdis Tear Jr., 82, of New Market, Maryland, passed peacefully from this life, surrounded by his wife and family on Thursday, April 29, 2021 at Frederick Health Hospital in Frederick, Maryland.

He was born on May 22, 1938, in Washington, DC and was the son of the late David Tear and Grace Tear Lewis.  He graduated in 1957 from Roosevelt High School in Washington DC, where he was a Captain in the ROTC and Color Guard.

David was a US Marine Corp veteran. He was honorably discharged July 11, 1963.  David later went to work for the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission and retired in 2005.  After David’s retirement, he enjoyed building computers and learning about computer technology.  David had a love for baseball since childhood, playing little league and later trying out for the Pittsburgh Pirates.  Growing up, in Washington, he was a Washington Senators fan and waited many years for baseball to return to DC.  Later becoming an avid Washington Nationals fan.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Sally Ann Tear to whom he was married for almost 60 years.  He is also survived by five children, Charlotte Solano and husband Simon, of Midland, Michigan, David Tear, III and his wife Julie of Hagerstown, Maryland, Angela Packan and husband Charles of New Market, Maryland, Victoria Hale and husband Christopher of New Market, Maryland and Elizabeth Frey of New Market, Maryland; and nine grandchildren, Chaz, Hannah, Alexa, Stephanie, Justin, Hunter, Jacob, Carsyn and Owen; and two great grandchildren, Jonah and Gianna.  He is also survived by his sister, Carol Burns of Columbia, Maryland and sister-in-law, Thelma Truitt of Frederick, Maryland and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, May 4, 2021 at Stauffer Funeral Homes, P.A., 1621 Opossumtown Pike in Frederick, MD.

A celebration of David 's life journey will take place at 10:00 am on Wednesday, May 5, 2021, at Bethedsa United Methodist Church, 11901 Bethesda Church Road in Damascus, MD.   Kevin Beall will officiate.  Interment will be at Bethesda United Methodist Church Cemetery in  Damascus, MD.
