David James Rusk, 71, of Frederick, MD, passed away on October 8, 2016 at Holy Cross Hospital due to complications from his courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. He was soul mate and beloved husband of 21 years to Margaret (Karl) Lesher Rusk.
Born October 20, 1944 in Washington, DC, he was the son of the late Robert V. Rusk and Elaine (Tenny) Rusk Rose.
Surviving in addition to his wife are his children Kelly Rusk, Adam Rusk (Augusto Madrid), and Ashley Raiford (Bryan), stepchildren Christopher Lesher and Dianne Borghese (Paul), granddaughters Grayson, Shay, and Blake Raiford, grandsons Robert, Jonathan, Nathan, Matthew, and Simon Borghese, and brothers Bill Rose and Leo Rusk. In addition to his parents Dave is preceded in death by his brother Robert (Pete) Rusk, sister Ann Rose Check, and former wife Joanne Rusk. After graduation from McLean high school in 1963 he attended college in Tennessee and Maryland. He completed his military service with the Navy in 1970. His career spanned the automotive industry from regional management for Aamco to sales with Goodyear. Dave loved fast cars, sailing, woodworking and his Nats. He was a member of Middletown United Methodist Church. He enjoyed his service there with Appalachian Service Project (ASP) as well as with Middletown Lions, SCORE, and Habitat for Humanity.
A memorial service celebrating Dave’s life will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, October 19, 2016, at Middletown United Methodist Church, 7108 Fern Court, Middletown, MD 21769. The family will greet friends at the church before and after the service.
Inurnment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to MUMC or to Pancreatic Action Network, 1500 Rosecrans Ave, Suite 200, Manhattan Beach, CA 90266.
