It is with great sadness that we announce the death of David Lee Ridgeway, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Lee, 88 of Jefferson, MD passed away on Saturday, March 23 after being ill for several months. He was the loving husband of Shirley Foltz Ridgeway for 46 years.
Born on February 2, 1936 in Lovettsville, VA to Roy and Louise Ridgeway.
Lee was predeceased in death by his parents, two brothers, Petie and Gene, his son Randy and grandson Randy, and Brian Cooper, his step-son.
In addition to his wife, Shirley, Lee is survived by 3 children. Dale and wife Beth, Scott and Carolyn, and Sharon Rector and husband Steve, as well as all his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Also, Lee is survived by step-children Kathy and husband Tommy, David and wife Michelle and daughter in law Debbie Cooper as well as their children and grandchildren.
Lee (Ridgie) worked as a power plant operator for 31 years at Pepco Power Plant in Dickerson, MD. Other jobs he has done in his 88 years of life include farming, working at Painters sawmill in Lovettville, VA and unloading cars at the car yard on the railroad. He worked hard all his life..
His passion was restoring antiques tractors and pulling in the county tractor pulls. He loved fixing up riding mowers too. He could be seen on his tractors mowing and plowing snow as often as possible.
Family and friends will be received at the Stauffer Funeral Home in Brunswick, MD on Wednesday, March 27th from 4-7. The funeral will be held at the Stauffer Funeral Home on Thursday March 28th at 11:00 am.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Burkittsville, MD.
