David Phillips

David Preston Phillips, 65, of Myersville, Maryland, passed from this life to the next on Tuesday, December 31, 2013 at Frederick Memorial Hospital.

Born on April 3, 1948, in Hagerstown, Maryland, he was the son of the late Warren and Erma (Moss) Phillips.

David was a veteran of the United States Army, serving from 1968 until 1970, with his last station in Germany.

He retired in 2002 after 32 years with Eastalco in Frederick.

David was a member of the American Legion, and the Pleasant Walk United Methodist Church in Myersville where he served as a Trustee.

David will be fondly remembered for his love of all things outdoors.

He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Barbara L. (Green) Phillips; two brothers, Gary Phillips and wife Judy of Boonsboro, Maryland, and Dennis Phillips and wife Paula of Martinsburg, West Virginia; two sisters-in-law, Pat A. Myers and husband Sherman of Orlando, Florida, and Connie J. Dutrow and husband Wendell of Myersville; and two great nephews, Aidan and Liam Dutrow, both of Middletown.  He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and will be missed by his favorite cat, T.C.

A funeral ceremony will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 4, 2014 at the Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike in Boonsboro.  Rev. Nancy Green will officiate.  Final resting place ceremonies will follow at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery in Myersville.

Friends and family are invited to visit at the funeral home anytime from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, January 3, 2014.  The family will be present to receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
