Mr. David Jerome Lindsey, 72, of Frederick, MD passed away on November 2, 2014 at his home
due to a heart attack. He was the husband of Changhong Lindsey and the father of Emily
Lindsey Reeves.

In addition, David is survived by his brother John Roger Lindsey and sister Sylvia Louise
Teichert. Also surviving are David’s four children and five grandchildren: daughter Emily
Lindsey Reeves, her husband Micah, and their children Elijah and Violet of New Orleans, LA;
stepsonTing Xiao, his wife Christine, and their children Dylan and Nathan of Frederick, MD;
adopted daughter Shu Lindsey Yao, her husband Kevin, and their child Sophie of San Jose, CA;
adopted daughter Beimi Yan of Toronto, ON, Canada.

Born on September 12, 1942 in Rockport, IN, David was the son of the late John David and
Emma Louise Halbruge Lindsey. After his service in the US Army Reserves, David moved to
the Washington, DC area, and graduated from Benjamin Franklin University with an AA degree
and American University with a BS degree. Subsequently, David worked for 32 years as a
Supervisory Computer Specialist at the US Department of Interior and the US Environmental
Protection Agency. Throughout his professional career, David received numerous merit awards,
including one signed by a former President of the US.

David also was a long term active member of the National Capital Dahlia Society where he
served as its secretary and president. Besides gardening, David enjoyed cooking and traveling.
David loved hosting big parties and lately mastered a lobster bisque that was appreciated by
many family and friends. During his retirement years, David often visited his wife’s families in
China where he went sightseeing in many remarkable places including Tibet. With his loving
wife, David toured over thirty countries in six different continents. With close friends, David
relished every expedition within the US. One of his most frequent and favorite trips was going
to New Orleans to spend time with Emily’s family.

David will be remembered by family and friends as a kind and generous man. From adopting
two daughters in order to provide them a good education in America to helping visitors get
acclimated to the US, David selflessly gave his time and energy to serve others. He humbly
served as the Vice President of Riva Refuge, a small nonprofit organization assisting impoverished children in Africa. Standing at 6’3”, David was an unassuming gentle giant whonever wanted to trouble others with his own needs. Even in his recent ailment and passing,David displayed his usual quiet inner strength.

The family will receive friends at the Key Memorial Chapel in Mount Olivet Cemetery, 515
South Market Street, Frederick, MD, on Friday, November 7, 2014 at 10 AM. Memorial service
will start at 11 AM.
